So, I’m not a SD3 power user and the new EZ Drummer 3 looks like it might just be the compromise that may satisfy my Drummer needs -looking forwards to finding out more info on EZ3, which is a bit limited currently but tempted to take advantage of the pre-order upgrade discount as a retirement present to myself.

I’ve been using SD3 since it came out but to be honest SD3 is a mile long but I only use the first couple of hundred yards of it ( I haven’t even loaded the ambient mic’s set because I don’t have enough hard drive space and don’t see any great need to) and I’ve not bought any SD3 extensions purely because they’ve far too expensive, choosing to use EZD extensions instead if I need more than the SD3 core drums. With SD 2.0, Toontrack are attempting to marry the best of both these earlier products the meticulous sampling and user control found in DFH Superior with a more accessible userinterface based on EZ Drummer. 2 days ago The Fortin NTS Suite from Neural DSP would be fabulous for. Now EZ Drummer 3 has just been announced and it looks very interesting apparently incorporating many of the features from SD3 that convinced me to get SD3 but in an ‘EZ’ package! started using the SD3P format to store the entire Superior Drummer 3 preset. I’ve had EZ Drummer 2 for quite a number of years and upgraded to Superior Drummer 3 when it came out because it incorporated many of the ‘easy’ features I liked in EZD2 but with Superior Drummer’s added versatility. Superior Drummer 2.0 has been redeveloped for optimized use with e-drums with more effective use of sample layers and much improved loading times.
